O'Hara goes three clear at Shotts

Paul O'Hara has opened up a three-stroke lead with a first-round 65, five-under-par in the  Shotts Young Pros Order of Merit pro-am which is over two days and 54 holes.

O'Hara, who has never won this event but is now favourite to win the £447 first prize, had six birdies - first, eighth, 10th, 11th, 14th and 18th in halves of 33 and 32. He had one blemish on his card - a bogey at the short 16th.

Joint second on 68 are Gavin Hay (Grantown on Spey) and Kamran Zeynalov (Portlethen). Hay had a double bogey six at the 11th and five birdies in halves of 34. Zeynalov had four birdies in halves of 34.
