Old Fold Manor Golf Club duo Jack Frances and Nick Bolsover have a chance of winning Europe’s biggest pro-am when they compete in the grand final of the Lombard Trophy in sunny Portugal next week.
Head PGA Professional Frances, who only joined the Barnet-based club in February, and amateur Bolsover will go head-to-head with 14 other clubs in the 36-hole showdown in the Algarve.
More than 700 clubs entered the popular PGA National Pro-Am Championship which reaches its climax at Pestana’s stunning Vila Sol Golf & Resort Hotel on the Algarve from September 21-22.
Frances and Bolsover clinched their spot in Portugal after winning their regional qualifier at Sandy Lodge Golf Club back in July.
The duo carded a nine under par round of 62 to win by one shot ahead of Dan Field and Duncan Woodcock of East Herts Golf Club.
“I only came to the club as head professional this year so it’s good to get the club into a national final so soon after coming here,” said Frances.
“Myself and Nick were really pleased to win and we want to go to Portugal to try and win as well. It’s a final I’ve never been to before so we’re both excited by the prospect.”
