The journey to better golf may not just be in the learning of your players, according to Sarah McQuade of The Coach Learning Group:
When we think about coaching, we tend to focus on players’ technique, shot selection and their course management. However, learning is not solely the responsibility of players. In order to continue to support players' performance, coaches must develop their own professional knowledge and skills.
Professional development is critical to keep abreast of new trends, innovations and research. It can also ensure coaching currency. Much like the development of the player, the professional development of the coach has to be considered, structured and planned. The plan should be goal oriented and the process to achieve those goals well defined.
Opportunities for learning and development are significant. With so many types of professional development options available, it is difficult to identify what learning to undertake and how to do that.
As such, The Coach Learning Group has created a Professional Development Planning Course for Golf Coaches. This course will help you reflect on your current capabilities to establish strengths and limitations. It will help you determine a focus for your on-going professional development and create a step-by-step plan to become a more effective coach. To find out more about this course CLICK HERE.
PGA Professionals will be awarded 15 CPD Points for successful completion of this online course as part of The PGA’s Member Education Programme.
