Ormerod piles more pain on unlucky Finch

19/07/2013

Niall Ormerod won the Sue Wright Trophy at Helsby after an energy-sapping five hole play-off.

But it was heartbreak for Peter Finch who lost his second sudden-death shoot-out in less than a month in a PGA North Assistants' Challenge event.

The 28-year-old from the Chilli Dip Academy near Chorley was beaten by Formby's Matthew Harrison at Durham club Rockliffe Hall.

This time he was in a three-way tie at the top of the leaderboard on one-under-par 71 with Ormerod, a first year trainee from Nelson, and Matthew Edwards.

Edwards ruled himself out of the play-off because he'd already returned to his club and could not get back in time.

And Finch, who birdied the final hole in normal time to share the lead, is hoping it will be third time lucky in the fourth of the five events in the series at PGA North's Bolton HQ on August 15.
