The Yorkshire PGA PGA in Yorkshire has unveiled a busy season with a number of regional heavyweights out to defend prestigious titles in the on its Order of Merit.
Among those returning hoping to retain trophies will be PGA Cup player John Wells.
Fresh from the delights of Portugal’s Algarve where its popular San Lorenzo pro-am, is staged, the campaign starts in earnest with the first of six events in the PGA Trainees Professionals’ Order of Merit at Moortown Golf Club in March.
Meanwhile, the Links Challenge at Bridlington in May marks the start of the county’s seven True Temper Order of Merit events where Ashley Lerigo (Sitwell Park) is defending champion.
The Yorkshire PGA Masters at Sandburn Hall follows in June, a co-sanctioned with the PGA in Engaland & Wales (North) which was won in 2013 by PGA Cup player and PGA North No. 1 David Shacklady (Mossock Hall).
Abbeydale’s Gareth Davies will defend the Yorkshire PGA Championship at Mid Yorkshire Golf Club, sponsored by Stoneacre Motor Group with the Forest Park Trophy at the end of June where Wells (Snainton Golf Centre) holds the title.
Action then switches to the Leeds Golf Centre at Wyke for the HA Fox Yorkshire PGA in Yorkshire Classic in September defended by Richard Masters (Baildon) with the Yorkshire Open sponsored by the Needless Inn at Howley Hall at the beginning of October with Ben Maston (Waterfront Golf) returning as title holder.
