Penge In Control Heading Into Last Day

Marco Penge goes into the final day of The GolfCatcher Championship leading by three shots over Thomas Curtis at Dudsbury Golf Club.

Penge recovered from a tough start to finish up on one under including an eagle on the sixth for the second day running in some tricky conditions.

With the winds blowing Penge of Golf at Goodwood was one of the last out in the course facing gusts of up to 35mph on fairways and greens that had toughened in the heat.

Thomas Curtis finished day two on seven under and was level with Penge for a while. It was the second bogey-free round of the week for the Pannal Golf Club man.

Jamie Dick (Forest Hills Golf Club), Alfie Plant (Sundridge Park Golf Club), Paul McKechnie (Braid Hills Golf Centre) and Richard Mansell (Beau Desert Golf Club) all sit on five under par tied for third.

Elsewhere on the course, Cameron Raymond (St. Annes Golf Club) and Jacob Hassan (Royal Blackheath Golf Club) posted the best rounds of the day going six under, 65 to ensure both made the cut.

The cut was made at level par with fifty plus ties making it through to the last day. Amongst the names going out for a final round tomorrow is Lee Thompson who represents Dudsbury Golf Club.

Many of the field will have one eye on the final round of Open qualifying on Tuesday so a good bit of form to finish this week could make all the difference.
