Andrew Pestell tapped into a stunning vein of form to land the pro-am at Chelmsford Golf Club where he is the PGA Professional.
Pestell was level-par at the turn but caught light in fine style on the back nine, returning in a five-under-par of 29.
His string of birdies meant he recorded a superb 63, one better than runner-up Stuart Brown (Orton Meadows).
Pestell’s scoring spree began when he picked up a shot at the 10th. He made it three birdies in a row by the 12th before conjuring up a strong finish.
The home professional birdied the 16th and 17th – both par-fours – and then closed out with a par at the short 18th.
Brown was second on four-under, while Neil Mitchell (Bury Golf Range) and Jason Levermore (Channels) shared third place, two shots back after respective 66s.
James Smith (Maylands G&CC) led the successful team on a tally of 119, two better than the next best.
