PGA in Ireland find new home at The K Club

The PGA in Ireland have announced that they have relocated their head office to The K Club after 35 years in Dundalk Golf Club.

The PGA in Ireland hope that the incoming move to The K Club will further enhance the PGA brand and enable them to take the next step in improving the regional experience for players and staff and Conor Dillon, PGA in Ireland Manager, is delighted to see the move happen and take their relationship with The K Club to the next level.

“The K Club and Michael Fetherston have been great supporters not only of Irish golf but also of the PGA for many years and then the K Club Pro-Am is a testament of the support they give us. We play for €100,000 prize fund and we had over 100 teams in the pro-am over two days so that raised the bar in the standards of pro-ams that we have in ireland.

“That demonstrated the support the K Club have given us over many years and also this year we had the biggest pro-am with the K Club.

“They have invested greatly in the resort so it’s a good positive place to be. The alignment that we have with The K Club reflects well on their brand and on ours, it’s mutually beneficial.”

The K Club Pro-Am has become the most lucrative pro-am in the country and Dillon hopes to avail of the two world class golf courses on offer and host more pro-ams there in the future.

“We will stage more events on their golf courses in the coming years. The quality of the product that we have on our doorstep will be top notch with both courses receiving large investments and they are two of the finest in the country,” he said and he feels the new headquarters will be more accessible for PGA members across the country.

“The accessibility and the fact they have newly renovated meeting rooms where we can have business meetings and seminars etc.means we have a lot of new resources at our disposal.

“We are more accessible to Dublin so geographically we are in an ideal location for members in the west, north and south and it's a favourable location to service all of our members.”

The move to The K Club also continues the Ryder Cup theme within the PGA with the Belfry and Gleneagles also home to the PGA in England and Scotland respectively.

“Because we are stakeholders of the Ryder Cup there is a Ryder Cup legacy here from 2006 and also when you look at our HQ at the Belfry that’s a Ryder Cup location and the PGA in Scotland are in Gleneagles, another Ryder Cup location so the move made perfect sense.

“Getting that continuity with HQ’s made a lot of sense,” added Dillon.

The PGA will continue to return to their former headquarters in Dundalk for a number of events and to maintain their fantastic relationship with the club which proved a brilliant home for 35 years.

“It’s very clear that the relationship between ourselves and Dundalk Golf Club for over 35 years hasn’t diminished in any way. We have had a fantastic relationship with them.

“Dundalk couldn’t be more accommodating to us and the relationship has been very deep for a long period of time.”
