PGA North flying high with Albatross Golf Events

PGA North’s 2021 tournament programme has been given a £30,000-plus prize money boost thanks to a sponsorship deal with bucket-list golfing experience specialists Albatross Golf Events.

The deal with the company run by golfbreaks.com travel partners and PGA pros Andy Scrimshaw and Martyn Jobling includes sponsorship of the Order of Merit and the top three splitting an additional purse of £2,250.

In addition, a minimum of three new golf experience pro-ams with combined prize funds in excess of £30,000 will be added to the schedule.

Based in the north-east, Albatross Golf Events is a bespoke events organisation that promotes the very best in luxury and must attend amateur, team and pro-am golf events both in the UK and overseas.

Commenting on the agreement, PGA North regional manager Jonathan Paine said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for both parties to create unique experiences for both our PGA Professionals and their amateur partners.

“Having spoken with both Andy and Martyn, their vision is in line with that of the region and PGA and I am delighted to have them on board for 2021 as Order of Merit sponsors.

“If all goes to plan with the return to golf and travel, we have some big ideas between us for the years ahead.”  

The first event in the new relationship sees a visit in September to Le Golf National, Paris, the venue for the French Open and 2018 Ryder Cup which saw Europe defeat the USA 17.5 – 10.5. Full details will be released shortly.
