The influence of PGA Professionals in golf has been highlighted with a number nominated in the Golf Club Managers' Association Manager of the Year awards.

Among those up for honours are Andrew Minty and Stuart Leech who are both PGA director of golf qualified.

Minty, a PGA Advanced Professional, is director of golf at Langland Bay Golf Club in Wales and nominated in the Golf Club Manager of the Year category.

Under his leadership, green green fee revenue has increased from £34,000 per year to £81,000 in the five years he’s been at the helm while membership has doubled. Read his profile here.

Leech meanwhile, a PGA Fellow Professional, is secretary/manager at Formby Golf Club in Liverpool, and is up for the newcomer of the year category.

Royal Cromer Golf Club head pro Lee Patterson and High Post Golf Club head pro Tony Isaacs are both nominated in the Team of the Year award which recognises the work done by the club manager with their head PGA pro and head greenkeeper.

The Manager of the Year awards have been revamped for 2015, with three categories instead of one, plus new prizes. The changes perhaps contributed to the most nominations for golf club managers in the competition’s history – more than 160.

The GCMA will be profiling all the nominees in the build up to the its awards ceremony on November 16 at St George's Park.
