Back by popular demand and scheduled for 8th-9th October, the 36 hole PGA Sandwich Links Championship Pro-Am is an unmissable opportunity to play two of the UK’s finest links courses and Open Championship venues, Prince’s and Royal St. George’s.
Last year, Lee-on-the-Solent’s James Ablett and Kingsway Golf Centre’s James Watts both shot four-under-par totals to share victory. Ablett said: “This event’s a great close to the schedule after what will be another long season. These two courses are among the best in the UK and are an absolute treat to play. Both will also be in top condition, with Prince’s now hosting Open Final Qualifying and with The Open coming back to Royal St George’s next year.”
Informal practice rounds and reception drinks will held at Prince’s on the Monday, followed by Round 1 at Royal St. George’s on Tuesday 8th October and then on Wednesday 9th October, Round 2 at Prince’s and the prize giving. Special two night packages are also available at The Lodge at Prince’s and can be booked with The PGA, along with team entries.
The 2019 event will be once again supported by Callaway and Shepherd Neame with terrific prizes for the amateurs and a good prize fund for the professionals. The PGA in England (South)’s Regional Manager, Sam Smith, said: “As a key part of the golf community in Kent, I’m very pleased that one of the leading brewers in the UK has chosen once again to maintain its support of PGA Professionals and golf clubs.”
He added: “It’s especially good news that along with Callaway Golf’s continued support for the PGA Sandwich Links Championship Pro-Am, we are able to offer some great team prizes. This is a very popular event in the schedule, so early entry is strongly advised.”
