Peter Tarver-Jones was the standout performer in the first stage of PGA EuroPro Tour qualifying school.
The Worthing golfer was in sparkling form as he carded rounds of 64 and 67 for an 11-under-par total at Woldingham to win by five shots.
He was one of 185 golfers progressing through from four venues to reach final stage qualifying at Frilford Heath (above) this week which gets underway on Wednesday (April 2) and carries a prize fund of £16,000.
Brampton’s James Wilkinson topped the qualifiers at Slaley Hall while Rowlands Castle’s Darren Wright was the leading player at Formby Hall.
The winner at Players Club was Matthew Swales (Cumberwell Park). Also through is Craig Lawrie, the son of former Open Champion Paul Lawrie.
The 185 qualifiers join the 55 exempt to final stage, where each golfer will play
18 holes on each the Red and Blue courses at Frilford Heath, before a cut to the top 80 players and ties, who will play a third round on the Blue Course.
