Portelli best at Harpenden

Glen Portelli of Verulam, winner of the Weston Homes plc/East Herts Classic in July (pictured above), also ended on top of the leader board in the Hertfordshire PGA Captain’s Day held at Harpenden Golf Club.

His two-under-par round of 68 beat Paul Hetherington of Great Hadham Golf and Country Club by one shot. Peter Cherry of Ashridge and Joel Saunders of Verulam shared third place with one over par 71.

Ashridge won the team event with 85 Stableford points. They were nine points clear of runners-up Great Hadham with Verulam taking third place with 74 points.

Hertfordshire PGA President’s Day was hosted by Old Fold Manor. There was a triple tie at the top of the leader board between Lee Fickling (Bush Hill Park), Noel Quinn (Whipsnade Park) and Tommy Obergan (Berkhamsted) all signing for two under par 69. Bush Hill Park were team winners with Old Fold Manor second and Sandy Lodge third.
