Portmarnock Links will host the PGA in Ireland's richest single day prize fund event on July 16th – 'The mac-group Portmarnock Links Pro-Am'.
The €16,000 Pro-Am, featuring morning and afternoon shot-gun starts, will cater for 50 of Ireland's leading PGA professionals, including mac-group brand ambassador, David Higgins (Waterville Golf Club).
Portmarnock Links Head Professional, Conor Russell, is confident the event will attract a high class field especially as many PGA professionals compete regularly at the venue in the popular winter series.
Paul McKenna, founder and CEO of mac-group said: “As a member of Portmarnock Links I have watched closely the on-going programme of works that is transforming the course into one of the finest links courses in Ireland.
“Portmarnock represents quality, commitment and skill - the tenacity to overcome challenges - these are the same attributes the mac brand conveys. It’s appropriate for mac to be associated with a course of such heritage.”
Portmarnock Resort Director, Barry O'Connor, said: “The creation of the Pro-Am is not only a further step in our ambitious plans to build the 'club' side of the Links but also to build the course's profile. This past winter we have added 80 new members and we are currently creating some exciting new facilities in house for all our golfers.”
Michael McCumiskey, Regional Manager of the PGA in Ireland, thanked mac-group for their sponsorship adding that it was further recognition of the important role played by PGA professionals in the Irish golf industry.
Team entry is €550 for three amateurs and further details are available from Conor. crussell@portmarnock.com / 018666547 / www.portmarnock.com
