PGA in England and Wales (North) were first off the mark when chief executive Robert Maxfield and his team revealed future plans and objectives during the regional members’ meeting at Pleasington Golf Club.

“The structure and timing proved popular with members last year which is why we decided to stick with staging the meetings earlier in the season when you are likely to be less busy,” he said.

“We wanted to engage with as many of our members as possible at all seven meetings held across the UK and Ireland,” he added.

"This was your chance to hear about the future plans of the Association and provide any feedback or comments you might have.”

Maxfield explained that the regional secretary’s role had changed to manager which gave him the opportunity to visit more clubs to and pick up good feedback.

“There will be more tournament activity this year which will increase throughout the whole of the PGA,” he said.

Several speakers all agreed that the bottom line was maintaining as many professionals as possible at a time when many were leaving by an increasing amount.
