Ryan Pudney (Mundesley - above) battled it out with Gary Potter of Great Yarmouth and Caister with nothing to choose between them in the Norfolk PGA Pro-Am at Eaton Golf Club.

Both returned scores of three-under-par 67 playing off the yellow tees.

Ian Ellis (Costessey Park) was one shot off the pace but had the consolation of leading the winning team of Tom Clements, Brad Smith and Randy Reynolds with 17-under-par 123.

Lee Patterson (Royal Cromer) was fourth professional on 69 with host head professional Mark Allen, an early club house leader, fifth with 70.

The assistants’ prize was shared by Matthew Gardner and Alex Beckett, both of Barnham Broom, who signed for rounds of 73.

Runners-up in the team competition were Neil Mitchell (Bury Golf Range), Stan Lee, Stan Nixon and Len Collins with 127. Third place went to Gardner, Mike Dolding, Richard Phillips and Les Gardner on count back from Jason Groat (Denver Golf Centre) with Mark Powell, Mike Brown and Eric Cowes with 129.

There was the usual warm welcome in the club house extended by steward Steve Warren who represents the East in the Fullers London Pride steward of the year award to be decided on Friday.
