Report from Woodbridge Pro-Am

The PGA in Essex again opened its 2019 campaign at the excellent Suffolk course of Woodbridge and a full field confirmed the popularity of the venue. The weather was good for the time of year but scoring was difficult and this was evidenced by the scoring.

No-one was able to match the tough par of 70 and the title was shared by Jason Levermore from Little Channels and Steve Cipa from South Essex Golf Centre. In joint third place 2 shots back were Matt Stables also from South Essex and Mason Papple from Stock Brook Country Club.

The team event was won by the team from Colchester Golf Club lead by Professional Mark Baker with an impressive 84 stableford points. This was enough to win by 2 points from last year’s winning team led by Matt Stables and by 3 points from the teams led by Phil Wesley from Orsett Golf Club, Craig Housden and Chris Goddard from Romford Golf Club. The placings for 3rd and 4th were decided on countback in favour of Phil Wesley and Chris Goddard.

Prizes were presented by the newly appointed 2019 Essex PGA Captain, Craig Laurence.
