The PGA is saddened to report that Robert Scanlan, a professional who served Clevedon Golf Club in Somerset for more than 20 years, passed away suddenly just before Christmas.
Robert, the son of Denis, a PGA Honorary Member, was 54. He joined the Association in 1991 and had a brief spell at the Isle of Purbeck Golf Club, Dorset, before moving to Clevedon (above) in 1992, initially working as an assistant to current PGA Board Member Martin Heggie.
He remained at Clevedon until 2015 when he left to set up the Robert Scanlan Golf Academy.
Robert is survived by Debbie Hodges, his partner, and Denis, his father. The PGA extends heartfelt condolences to them, his other family members and friends.
Robert’s funeral will be held at 13.30 on Wednesday January 13 at Weston-super-Mare Crematorium, BS22 9NY. Numbers are limited because of restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic and the family is working to establish who will be able to attend. The dress code is smart casual.
However, there will be a webcast of the service and this will be accessible by logging on to: www.wesleymedia.co.uk/webcast-view Login/Order ID: 64806 Password: wdhuukvx. The webcast will be available for seven days but the site has been known to crash if subject to a big demand. In which case mourners are requested to share the recording with others where possible.
