Graeme Robertson cemented his place at the top of the leaderboard on day two of the Scottish Young Professionals’ Championship but defending champion Dominic Bradburn is breathing down his neck heading into the closing 36-holes at Haddington.
Robertson, the overnight leader, moved to the eight-under mark with a three-under 68 but Bradburn upped the ante in his bid for back-to-back titles with a thrilling seven-under 64 which featured two eagles.
The Panmure assistant showed his determination to retain the crown he won in East Lothian last year and barged his way into contention with a rousing brace of eagles at the 13th and the 18th to move to within a shot of the lead.
With Bradburn making menacing advances, frontrunner Robertson, who is aiming for his third win in just a couple of weeks on the Arnold Clark Tartan Tour, made an eagle of his own on the 18th to forge a slender advantage.
Joe Bryce birdied three of his last four holes in a 66 to keep his hopes alive on six-under while there is a five shot gap between him and fourth-placed man, Chris Finnie, who shot a 71.
The leading quartet are the only players under par at the halfway stage.
