New Ross club professional James Roche and amateurs Joe Furness, Davy Doran and Mari Bursord will be dusting down their passports in readiness for trip to La Calla next month. They will travel as Ireland’s representatives for the final of the 3TS Charity Tournament.
Yesterday, on the Ryder Cup course at The K club, the CountyWexford team posted 86 points to win the Irish National final of the competition and qualify for the international shootout, against the winners from the other regions. New Ross finished two points ahead of Clontarf and The Hermitage.
Helping the winners on their way was a haul of seven points at both the fifth and 16th holes. At the par four 16th, 12-handicapper Doran carded a par while Furness, who plays off six, made birdie. Mari Bursord plays off 23.
