Route 66 for Rodgers at Knole Park

01/06/2018

Christopher Rodgers

Chris Rodgers (Richings Park) fired off a four-under-par 66 to win the Knole Park Pro-Am, edging out rivals Adam Clough (PGolfCoaching@Pedham) and David Copsey (DCGS Poult Wood).

Commenting on his first win of the 2018 season, Rodgers said: “Both Adam and David are very much in form, so I was delighted to finish ahead of them today and notch up a win myself.”

Taking home £660 for his 66, in a shotgun start Rodgers opened his account on the fourth. After birdies at the eighth and ninth, he gave them right back with bogeys at the 11th and 12th. Three more birdies at the 13th, 15th and 17th put him in sight of a podium finish, and one more at the second meant Rodgers was the winner.

Continuing his form from The PGA in Kent Championship the previous day, Clough made five birdies on the way to his 67, but an untimely bogey at his penultimate hole put him out of contention for top spot.

Starting at the ninth, Copsey got into top gear with three birdies in ten holes, and repaired a bogey with two more birdies to be four-under with four holes left. But even a birdie at his last hole couldn’t undo the damage done by a double bogey at his penultimate hole.

However, Copsey’s second place was made somewhat easier to swallow with an emphatic win for £150 in the team event, leading his amateur partners to a four shot victory.
