Patrick Ruff (The Belfry) won the Glazerite Trophy title thanks to rounds of 68 and 69 to finish with a total of seven-under-par at Wellingborough Golf Club.
Ruff, who was playing in his first year on the PGA Midlands circuit, pipped Matthew Cort (Beedles Lake Golf Club), Andrew Jones (Redditch Golf Club) and James Freeman (Retford Golf Club) to the title.
Commenting on his victory, Ruff said: “I’m really happy to get the win. I played solidly all day, struck the ball really well and had no bogeys which always helps the scorecard. It was a great day!”
Ruff takes the title at the Glazerite Trophy after a string of top five finishes in his previous three events, including another win at The Jelson Homes Pro Am at Rothley Park. He currently sits in second place on the PGA Midlands Order of Merit behind Cort.
Cort, a past winner of the Glazerite Trophy and runner-up with a score of six-under-par, added: “It’s the 15th Glazerite Trophy and I’ve been here myself six or seven times so I know the course pretty well - it’s nice that we come back every year to this venue – it’s almost like our Augusta.
"There’s a lot of strategy required for the course and there’s amazing gardens - it’s a nice venue to be at and watch the guys come in after your round.”
The Glazerite Trophy Pro Am returns to Wellingborough Golf Club on Friday 3rd September, 2021.
Dave Hawkins, Wellingborough Golf Club’s 19/20 and 20/21 Captain, commented: “It’s a real honour for the club to hold the Glazerite Trophy – it’s nice to see how the pros manage our course and our very high slope rating! It’s the 15th year and it’s very good to see them here.”
