Ruth and O’Hanlon star at Saunton

James Ruth (China Fleet) and Richard O'Hanlon (St Kew) dominated the annual two-day Cornwall Professional Golfers’ Alliance meeting at Saunton that attracted 56 players.

Ruth (above) won with 40 Stableford points on the opening day that was breezy and sunny while O’Hanlon led on 39 in rainy second day conditions.  Ruth was the overall winner on 78 points with O’Hanlon runner-up with 76. Chris Gill (Newquay) was third followed by Richard Sadler (Killiow).

Ruth and John Sanders (China Fleet) won the first day pairs with 44. O'Hanlon and Peter Chinnery (St Kew) won on the second day with 43. The two pairs shared first place on the combined two-day scores on 83 with the St Kew duo winning on countback.

St Austell professional Tony Pitts produced the shot of the tournament when he aced the 18th hole on the West course.
