Ruth and Turpin tie at Trevose

In-form James Ruth (China Fleet) and Paul Turpin (Carlyon Bay) shared first place on level-par 71 in the individual professional sector of the Cornwall Professional Golfers' Alliance at Trevose.

This year’s captain Chris Gill (Newquay), Josh Hancock (Newquay) and home professional Gary Lenaghan were one shot behind in a field of 94 who suffered a heavy early hail shower before the sun appeared.

Gill won the pairs award, partnered by former Cornwall amateur star Charlie Phillips. They combined well to score 45 points and win by four shots. The lesser places were decided on countback.

Home assistant Grant Slater and Mike Hawke were second followed by Carlyon Bay head pro Mark Rowe (Carlyon Bay) playing with Truro amateur Danny Downing. Ivy Leaf pro Dan Wood and Dale Howarth were fourth.
