Challenge Tour player James Ruth (St Mellion Golf & Country Club) returned to Cornwall to romp away with the Falmouth pro-am. Ruth (above) claimed a three-shot victory after a six-under return of 66.
This left Paul Hendriksen (Dinnaton), Richard O'Hanlon (The Point at Polzeath) and Michael Watson (Wessex Golf Centre) to share second place.
Ruth shot three-under 33s for each nine. He made birdies at the first, third, seventh and ninth with just one bogey at the sixth. A trio of successive birdie threes from the 12th followed.
Hendriksen dropped three shots and made four birdies, but launched himself into second with an eagle three at the 17th. O’Hanlon’s chances looked forlorn after a second bogey at the sixth left him at one-over-par. But a birdie at the 13th and three in succession to finish corrected early errors.
Watson made a brisk start with an eagle two on the fourth hole. He also finished with three successive birdies, but, by then, had dropped four shots.
O'Hanlon led the winning team on 127, followed by Grant Slater (Trevose) on 129 with Andrew Welch (Whitsand Bay) a further shot back in third.
