George Ryall (Players Club) won the Gloucester and Somerset PGA medal for the second consecutive week but was forced to share with outstanding young player Ashley Mansell (Clevedon) at Tall Pines.

The pair both carded four-under-par 66 in calm conditions at the course bordering the main runway at Bristol International Airport, aided by four birdies and an eagle.

Mansell took an early clubhouse lead thanks to a strong finish. He picked up four shots over the last five holes. He birdied the 14th before converting an excellent drive for an eagle two at the 16th. Another birdie at the 17th brought his third win of the year.

Ryall also played the closing five holes in four under the card. He also birdied the 14th and added another at the 16th before making an eagle three at the penultimate hole. He also won the Over 40s sweep.

Giuseppe Licata (Chipping Sodbury) finished one shot behind in third. He was out first and posted 67 which also featured an eagle at the 16th. But he was only able to marginally reduce Ross Langdon’s Total Triumph Order of Merit lead.

The Brickhampton Court player finished on level-par 70. Despite Licata’s three-stroke advantage it only equated to a two point gain in the season long points race which now only has four events left.

David Dixon (Enmore Park) and Ed Goodwin (Cirencester) tied fifth on 71.
