After five years of training at West Sussex Golf Club and then six more as PGA Head Assistant Professional to his brother Tim at Royal Ashdown Forest Golf Club, Sam Cowley is off to Haywards Heath Golf Club to take up his first position as a PGA Head Professional.
Given it’s where they started golf, combined with his training, qualifying and working as a PGA Professional at two of the most admired members golf clubs in the South, it’s not surprising that the Cowleys have always aimed to both become PGA Head Professional at a members’ golf club.
As Sam explains: “I’m extremely excited to be taking up my first PGA Head Professional position, and it’s brilliant to be going ‘back home’ to Haywards Heath where I know so many of the members from my junior days.”
“Working with my brother Tim at Royal Ashdown has meant I’ve enjoyed the best working relationship, and everything I’ve learned from that experience will be going into the mix for my ideas about Haywards Heath’s pro shop. It’s always had a very good retail operation and offered great coaching, and I’m now looking to build on that reputation.”
Cowley, a graduate of The Golf College at Lindfield, added: “Haywards Heath has a very good catchment area with lots of new developments, so there’s plenty of opportunity for me, as their new PGA Pro, to help the club become the go by offering the best possible customer service.”
His brother Tim commented: “Sam’s worked tirelessly over the past six years to achieve this goal. I have no doubt with his fantastic work ethic, teaching style and all round popularity with members, Sam will make a huge success of his new position at Haywards Heath.”
He summarised: “Sam will be missed by everyone here at Royal Ashdown Forest, but those at Haywards Heath will soon find their club’s gained a terrific new asset.”
