James Scade (above) of Ingrebourne Links and Chase Davis of Stapleford Abbotts shared the professional prize in the PGA in England (East) Captain’s Day at Bishop’s Stortford.
Both took advantage of glorious autumn weather to post scores of four-under-par 67. Scade, who holds the course record of nine-under-par 62 set in the corresponding event in 2011, had six birdies. Davis (below) had an unblemished round with four birdies.
Third place went to post head professional Simon Sheppard with two-under-par 69. He dropped two shots in his final two holes.
Nick Pateman (Pinner Hill), who collected the East trainees’ trophy from East Region captain Darren Parker (Maylands) at the dinner, was joint fourth with Jason Levermore (Channels). Both players were one-over-par.
Mark Hooper (Rayleigh Golf Range), winner of the 2013 Virgin Atlantic East Order of Merit, was level par together with Mark Baker (Colchester), Mark Stokes (Rayleigh Golf Range), Laurence Allen (Brookmans Park) and East Region chairman Lee Fickling (Bush Hill Park).
Stokes led the winning team with nine-under-par 133. They won on count back from the amateurs with Chase Davis. Daniel Field (East Herts) led the third-placed team with eight-under-par.
