James Scade sprinkled some magic on a sparkling day at Braintree Golf Club with a seven under par 63.
His round included eight birdies which was enough to take the professional first prize by six strokes from PGA Cup winner Jason Levermore with Marc Dodd a shot further back.
Victory pushed Scade into a solid third place in the Order of Merit. Surprisingly the two players fighting for top spot in the OOM both failed to score any points.
With only three points separating Lloyd Kennedy and Mark Talbot the contest to lift the first prize in the Porsche Order of Merit will go down to the last event, the Essex Open at The Burstead Golf Club in May.
To seal a successful day, Scade’s team of Malcolm Prior, Paul Duley and Andy Packer won the team event with 85 stableford points
