Scade wins Essex trainees’ match play title

Little Channels pro James Scade beat Clacton’s Sam Teer of Clacton in the final of the Essex PGA Trainees’ match play championship at Thorndon Park.

Scade won one up in a close tussle in windy conditions.

“We had a great game and both played really well,” said Scade who beat John Judd (Centre Golf Hartswood) in one semi-final with Teer defeating Colchester’s Chris Cutchie in the other.

Jason Levermore (Channels) won the Essex PGA Order of Merit for 2013 with Mark Stokes (Rayleigh Golf Range) as runner-up. Third place went to Mark Hooper (The Rayleigh Club).

Seventh-placed Johnnie Fryatt of Thorpe Hall claimed exemption from having to qualify for the 2014 East Region Order of Merit events.

The Essex PGA annual meeting will be at Channels Golf Club on Thursday, January 16th at 4.15pm.
