Enmore Park’s David Dixon recorded his second win of the Gloucester and Somerset PGA season with a three-under par 67 over the Channel Course at Burnham and Berrow, one shot clear of Gloucester’s Ross Langdon.

Despite only a light wind by Burnham’s standards over the nine hole, 18 tee course where accuracy rather than distance is key, there were many horror stories and numerous lost balls.

Even Dixon suffered and lost three balls but also carded six birdies and an eagle which helped repair the damage of two double bogeys and a single bogey.

Langdon started and ended the day as the leader of the total Triumph Order of Merit. His best spell came before the turn as he picked up strokes at the second, eighth and ninth with a bogey at the sixth. He finished with nine pars.

The previous week’s winner Giuseppe Licata (Bristol Golf Centre) also broke par to finish third on 69.  Former Burnham assistant Andrew March (Brean), the G&S PGA chairman, and Louis Boston (Windmill Golf Academy) were fourth on 71. George Ryall (Players) won the Over 40’s sweep money with 72.
