Jack Senior will take a three-stroke lead into the final day of the Matchroom Championship at The Belfry, the opening event of the HotelPlanner.com PGA Europro Tour season.
The Lancashire golfer is seven-under-par after shooting a second-round 67, five under, with Paul Broadhurst second on four-under and William Harrold a further shot behind in third.
James Robinson (Southport & Ainsdale Golf Club) and Ross Kellet (Kingsfield Golf Centre) share fifth, five off the pace on two-under. After a frosty start the sun once again shone on the legendary Brabazon Course, providing a warm afternoon for players and spectators.
Senior (Heysham Golf Club) started his second round on the tenth tee, and despite carding a five-under-par 67 had a bogey at 12 and a double on the fourth. His scores were made with six birdies and an eagle on the 17th. He’ll enter the final round as clear favourite to claim the £10,000 winner’s cheque.
Broadhurst began the day three-under and shot a second-round 71 to take his place in Thursday’s final pairing on four-under, and the former Ryder Cup star will be hoping his experience helps him see out the tournament in style.
A cut to the leading 50 players plus ties has now been made, with the 51 golfers whose 36-hole score is four-over-par or better progressing to play Thursday’s final round, which will be filmed for a two-hour highlights package to be broadcast on Sky Sports HD on April 29th, with several repeats in the following days.
Spectator entry to the event is free of charge throughout the week.
