Greig Hutcheon, with three wins over the past two weeks, including the Gleneagles Scottish PGA Championship, is well on his way to repeating last year's Tartan Tour double whammy - Order of Merit winner and leading money earner.

The disturbing news for his rivals is that the 40-year-old Banchory man, backed by Saltire Energy, Anderson, Anderson & Brown and Thistle Windows, thinks he has not reached his peak yet.

Making the cut in the PGA Championship at Wentworth and the Open at Muirfield have confirmed Hutch's personal view that his game is good enough to hold his own on the European Tour - if only he could get on it!

"It's shaping like another great season for me," he said, after his record-setting win at Peterculter in the Kippie Lodge pro-am at the weekend.

"There is no secret to my success. In general most of my good play is coming from a continuing growing self-confidence on the golf course.

"Making the cut at the PGA got things going. Some of my best days are coming when I really try to simplify the game: i.e. fairways and greens, always playing on the side of caution.

"I have definitely got a hot putter this year! I am using a two-thumb, cack-handed grip on a short putter that is very heavy, with a wide stance, rocking shoulder action.

"Given my form I looking forward to next month’s PGA Cup match at Slaley Hall.”
