Leicester's Craig Shave admitted Little Aston Golf Club is one of his favourite courses after another significant victory at the Birmingham venue.

The Whetstone professional won the Titleist & FootJoy PGA Professional Championship Midland regional qualifier for the second year running on Friday, April 28.

He carded a six-under-par round of 66 to beat Mark Sparrow (Halfpenny Green) into second spot by two shots.

They will join 13 other qualifiers for the£78,000 grand final which is being held at at Luttrellstown Castle Golf Club near Dublin between June 13-16.

Sparrow made an impressive start with birdies at the opening four holes but he could not match Shave.

"It's definitely a course I like playing, I won here last year and I've won another qualifier here in the past too," said Shave.

"I got off to a bit of an uneven start with two birdies and a bogey in the first three holes.

"I bogeyed the 10th as well but I had another six birdies too so I was happy with that.

"I'm not sure what it is about Little Aston but I seem to do pretty well when I play there. I really enjoy it and know it well now."

Shave insists he is not making qualification for this year's PGA Cup a priority despite being a regular in the final.

He has come close to making the GB&I team before for the event and does not want to jinx it this time

"I'm really just looking to play and see where that takes me," he said.

"I am looking forward to going over to Ireland for the final, it's going to be an excellent venue and it'll bring out the best in a lot of players."
