European Seniors Tour player Andrew Sherborne claimed his first PGA West win for almost two years in the 125th anniversary pro-am at Stinchcombe Hill.
The 53-year-old former European Tour winner from Bristol, who is now attached to Trevose Golf and Country Club, shot four-under-par 64 to relegate Ryder Cup maestro Phillip Price to second spot following his earlier 66.
Sherborne started with a birdie and reached four-under after further gains at the ninth, tenth and 13th. The shot he dropped on 13 was regained on the last in the event supported once more by Pebley Beach Suzuki.
Price, who has played in a variety of events this summer, including seven on the European Tour, made his third outing in the West this year as a late entrant. He recovered well after shedding two shots at the first four holes with birdies at the fifth and 12th and three more in the final five holes to hold the clubhouse lead.
Fellow Welshman Sion Bebb (Morlais Castle) was his nearest challenger and at one stage he looked capable of assuming the lead himself. He pitched in for an eagle two at the par-four 435-yard seventh and made a birdie at the ninth to be out in 30. But dropped shots at the 11th and 13th ended his challenge.
He shared third with the steady Michael Watson (Wessex Golf Centre) who made 15 pars, a bogey at the 11th and birdies at the 12th and 18th.
Ross Langdon (South Cerney) who is enjoying a good season, finished fifth on 68 with three birdies and three bogeys for his tenth top ten result in 15 starts this summer.
Sherborne also led the winning Prudential team of Richard Lamper, Brian Moulder and Steve Wood with 17-under-par 119, six shots better than CLM Associates group Steve Mowbray, Lyn Pullin and Jeff Pullin led by Mark Searle (High Post).
Club captain Nigel Coyle led his team of Len Keating, Nigel Hudson and Richard Dinsdale (Parc Golf Academy) into third place on 128. They beat BT Precision Engineering trio Bill Thomas, Bill Wray and Roger Grant headed by Stuart Little (Minchinhampton) on countback.
