Showcase your skills on PGA Play's new social media channels

20/11/2023

Building on the success of the online platform, we have recently launched a new PGA Play-specific Instagram account (@PGA_Play) to work alongside our existing TikTok account (@The_PGA).

The aim of these channels is to build awareness of PGA Play, and to provide a platform for you, our PGA Professionals, to raise your own profile through the submission of educational and inspirational content to be featured.

We believe the key to success on these channels is tuition-based video content aimed at beginner, improver, and regular golfers. Many of you are already creating similar content on your own channels or in partnership with your clubs and facilities.

If you would like to submit content to be featured on the PGA Play channels, then please follow the below guidance:

Film vertically – this is the most algorithm-friendly way to film and watch content and is easily transferrable between social platforms.

Keep it short – ideally your videos should be around 60 seconds (1m). The maximum length for an Instagram reel is 90 seconds (1m30).

Pick one audience – who is the video for? Are you speaking to a beginner, improver, or regular golfer.

Get to the point – within the first few seconds, make it clear what the video will cover. “Today, I’m going to show you how to…”, “Here’s a quick to drill to help you…”.

Keep it professional – think about the language you use and the captions you include.

Use of audio - make sure your voice is clear and easy to hear. If you use audio over a video, make sure it’s appropriate for the content.

To ensure that the videos feel as natural as possible, we would suggest that you focus on areas of the game that you are most comfortable talking about on camera. These could be tips or tutorials that you have previously used on your own channels.

We will, of course, tag you in each video, and post as a ‘collaboration’ on Instagram – so that the videos can sit on both your own and the PGA Play grids.

Initially, we would ask that you film one or two videos on areas you enjoy teaching and are interested in, remembering that we are targeting beginner, improver, and regular golfers.

The videos should be emailed to pgaplay@pga.org.uk using WeTransfer or similar with the subject line: Social Content Submission. If you would like to, then you are welcome to submit further videos on a monthly basis.
