PGA Professionals are being encouraged to sign up to international Women’s Golf Day (WGD) - a dedicated day to celebrate all that is good about the female game.
WGD is one of the fastest growing movements in golf with more than 900 events taking place in a staggering 52 countries in 2019. It takes place each year on the first Tuesday of June with the aim of introducing more females to golf and celebrate existing players.
The fifth edition of WGD takes place on June 2 and brings with it a new website and an expanding global reach. Its primary hashtag #WomensGolfDay received more than 47 million global impressions to nearly 25 million people viewing content.
As part of its ongoing commitment to have even more golf locations and people participating in 2020, PGA Professionals have a chance to take part in WGD for FREE as long as they register before March 31, 2020.
Elisa Gaudet, founder of Women’s Golf Day, commented: “We are extremely proud of the number of countries around the world who have embraced Women’s Golf Day.
“Golf is a fabulous sport that brings people of all nations together. Our official birthday will always be the first Tuesday in June, but with our global reach comes a responsibility to cater for everyone. This means that there will be some events taking place a few days prior in the build up to our fifth birthday on June 2 making the countdown even more exciting than in previous years.”
The Leadbetter Golf Academy World Headquarters at Champions Gate in Orlando, Florida hosted a successful and well received Women's Golf Day event in 2019 that welcomed over 125 women and was covered on Golf Channel. They are encouraging all of the David Leadbetter Academies, reaching across four continents, to host a WGD event and participate in the day on June 2.
“Women’s Golf Day is a real celebration and a window to what the modern game is all about,” said PGA Master Professional David Leadbetter. “It is so wonderful to see how the game has progressed, in particular with all the young girls taking up the game.”
