Slater’s double at Launceston

Trevose assistant Grant Slater (above) dominated the Cornwall Professional Golfers’ Alliance at Launceston and earned high praise from home professional John Tozer who made the presentations.

He shot four-under-par 66 on a cool spring day with glimpses of sunshine round to take the top five shots clear of the consistent Chris Gill (Newquay). He also won the pairs with amateur Ian Morgan

(Lanhydrock) on 43 points.

Gill and his amateur partner Steve Liddicoat (Newquay) claimed second on 42 followed on 41 by Richard Sadler (Killiow) and Dave Holland

(Falmouth) and Mike Masters (West Cornwall) and Mark Swift (Launceston).
