Smith takes victory at Thorpeness

Chris Smith of Fynn Valley won the second PGA in Suffolk Pro-Only event of the year which was played in sunny conditions at Thorpeness.

His level-par round of 70, which included three birdies, beat former Scottish amateur international Peter Latimer (Felixstowe Ferry) by a single shot.

Latimer was two under at the turn but dropped three shots on his second nine. Third place went to Tim Cooper of Newton Green, winner of the first Suffolk pro-only event at Aldeburgh, who signed for a round of 73.

Ollie Rush of Haverhill was fourth with 75, a round which would have been far better but for missed opportunities on the greens.
