Soto in good Nick at Silverstone

A foggy start at the Silverstone pro-am, the 10th event of the 2014 winter series, gave way to bright sunshine as the Northants golfers sparkled in the excellent early spring conditions with six of them managing to shoot under par.
It led to a tight tussle with Northampton pro Nick Soto (above) emerging as a one shot victor thanks to a three-under 69.
In joint second place were home pro Rodney Holt, Northampton County's Adam Myers and Simon Callendar from the John Reay Golf Centre near Coventry.
The pro-am, sponsored by Caddy Cars, saw a home winner in the team event as Holt's team triumphed with a 16-under-par total.
In the closely contested winter series Order of Merit, Carl Sainsbury (Brampton Heath) saw his lead cut to just one point by Holt with Mike Gallagher (Farthingtone) lurking just five points behind. The next event is on March 19th at Northants County.
