The PGA of South Africa is launching what it hopes will become the world’s biggest club pro-am in a bid to showcase the country as a golfing destination.
And PGA Professionals from across the globe have been invited to take part with free air travel, accommodation, meals and golf all provided plus a purse of US$210,000 and a minimum first prize of US$33 000.
In addition there will be a US$1000 appearance fee for pros who don’t earn a top 60 place prize.
The tournament is a seven day, Saturday to Saturday event, and is scheduled for February 15-22, 2014 and will be staged at KwaZulu-Natal and played over 90 holes across five championship courses including Durban Country Club (pictured).
The field is limited to 200 club professionals together with their three amateurs so organisers have advised club professionals, who are members of the PGA World Alliance, to register and confirm their place before recruiting three amateurs at their respective clubs.
Entry is on a first come first served based with spaces for 180 teams from the rest of the world in addition to 20 South African teams.
The format will be five rounds at five different courses with no cut. It will be individual Stableford for pros and an alliance Stableford for amateurs.
The cost for amateurs is US$6600 and includes airfares, seven nights dinner, bed and breakfast, all golf including transfers, carts, halfway houses, opening, closing and special functions, giveaways and prizes. For more information on entry details contact
