Sponsor boost for PGA South's Assistants and Trainees

The PGA in England (South) is delighted to announce that award winning The Crown Inn in Chiddingfold is not only continuing its association with The PGA, but is now the new sponsor of the Assistants & Trainees Order of Merit events for 2017.
Daniel Hall, The Crown Inn’s proprietor and landlord, plays regularly in the PGA South’s wide ranging Pro-Ams and commented on the partnership: “It’s great that we can support young, aspiring PGA Professionals and it’s nice to see some new blood coming through the ranks, even if it’s just so I can pick a new face to play with in Pro-Ams!”
The avid golfer added: “The PGA Pros I have played with have helped me and my game so much, it’s great I can give them something back. We’re delighted at The Crown Inn to offer all PGA Professionals a 10% discount on any stays with us.”
Regional Secretary, Sam Smith, added: “I hope that all Head PGA Professionals and employers will be able to find time for, and encourage, their Trainees and Assistants to participate in these events, as they provide perfect opportunity for them to test their skills against their peers within the Region. I also hope this will be the same for the Regional PQ for the Galvin Green PGA Assistants Championship, held on Tuesday 9th May at Farleigh Golf Club.”
The Crown Inn PGA South Assistants & Trainees Order of Merit will consist of four tournaments open to all PGA Registered Trainees and all PGA Professionals who have been qualified for three years or less within Sussex, Kent, Surrey, Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.
The Crown Inn PGA South Assistants & Trainees Order of Merit 2017 comprises:
- Assistants & Trainees Match Play Championship: Match Play rounds throughout the season, finals day at Cottesmore G&GC on Mon 11 September. Prize Fund is £2,500 minimum.
- Titleist & Foot-Joy A&T BetterBall Pro-Am: 18 Hole Pro-Am event on Wed 12 April at Farnham GC, Surrey. Prize Fund is £3,000 minimum.
- The Golf College Challenge: 36 Hole Professional event on Tues 20 and Wed 21 June at Lindfield GC, East Sussex. Prize Fund is £5,500 minimum (top 24 Pros and ties will play on day two).
- PGA South Assistants & Trainees Championship: 36 Hole Professional event on Monday 25 September at West Hove GC, East Sussex. Prize Fund is £6,000 minimum.
