Stirling Golf Club’s Andy Malcolm and Kenny Monaghan are looking to embellish its 150th anniversary celebrations by winning the SkyCaddie PGA Pro-Captain Challenge.

Malcolm, the club’s captain, and Monaghan, its head PGA Professional, will join nine other pairs competing in next week’s final at Argentario Golf Resort & Spa, Italy.

The venue is the home of the PGA National, Italy, and the competition’s final is supporting Prostate Cancer UK and carries a £22,000 prize fund.

The pair booked their places in it by winning the Scottish qualifier at West Lothian Golf Club and, looking ahead, Malcolm said: “I can’t wait to get out there, especially as it’s in Italy.

“We should get some sunshine and there’s also the food and wine! Above all, if we can win it will be great way to mark the club’s 150th anniversary.”

The club will represented in the final for the second year in succession and Monaghan added: “Last year’s was in Mallorca and I played with Andy’s predecessor, William McQuilliain.

“So Andy was under a bit of pressure to do well - his successor will be under even more pressure next year!

“Joking apart, having a good partner is the secret of my success. I had a very good partner last year a very good one this year. I’ve been very lucky.”
