Stonebridge pro Lansberry quick to enter St. James's Place National Pro-Am Championship

Stonebridge Golf Club’s PGA Professional Aaron Lansberry has been quick off the mark after finding out his club was the first to enter the 2023 St. James’s Place PGA National Pro-Am Championship.

Entries for this year’s eagerly anticipated event opened last month, with information packs landing at golf clubs across the UK and Ireland.

The Midland venue is one of more than 30 clubs already teed up to compete in one of seven Regional Finals taking place this year.

With a £41,000 prize fund at stake, including £10,000 going to the winning PGA Professional, there is also the chance to win an all-expenses paid trip to PGA National Turkey for the Grand Final, to be played from 29-30th November at Antalya Golf Club.

Speaking about reasons for entering, 2022 finalist Lansberry said: “I played in Turkey last year and loved it so much I wanted to play again,” said Lansberry. “As soon as this year’s event opened, I put my name down!

“We play our club qualifier as one of our weekend medal/stableford events. The members at Stonebridge are particularly excited and keen about this year’s St. James’s Place National Pro-Am Championship after seeing Garry Monger (amateur) and myself qualify and play in the Grand Final last year.”

Lansberry and Monger finished ninth in Turkey last November with a score of 78, finishing 11 points behind winners Caerphilly Golf Club duo Darran Clark and Delfi Ree (amateur).

Reflecting on their journey in 2022, Lansberry added: “It was very unexpected to win the Regional Final. We just went for a bit of fun on a nice golf course, but we played well and won by two points.

“It was such a great experience being in Turkey and competing at Antalya Golf Club. The golf course, hospitality, hotel and competition is 5 star! I would recommend every PGA Professional to enter!”

Open to both male and female amateurs aged 18 or over and based at a golf club in the UK or Ireland, the St. James’s Place National Pro-Am Championship pairs PGA Professionals with an amateur from their club to embark on a unique golfing journey.

Amateurs who win their club's qualifying round will be able to partner their PGA Professional at one of seven spectacular Regional Finals - if successful there, the next stage is an all-expenses paid trip to Turkey for the Grand Final.
