Paul Streeter continued his superb run of form at Wellingborough, warming up in style for the Glazerite Trophy with yet another victory at the pro-am curtain raiser.
Since winning at Atherstone in early June the Lincoln Golf Centre star has recorded eight successive scores in the 60s and only finished outside the top two on one of those occasions.
His latest win saw him fire six birdies in a bogey free round of 66 for a one shot victory over leading Wellingborough amateur Ryan Evans, who managed one more birdie on his home track but dropped two shots in his 67.
The home professional Simon Lilly also found his touch with a four-under-par 68 to share third place with Craig Shave (Whetstone).
The pro-am was well attended as ever with 41 teams taking part, all blessed with bright sunshine in Northants. The forecast is equally good for Thursday and the 36-hole main event, also at Wellingborough, which is the second PGA (Midlands) Order of Merit event of the season.
