Rob Pritchard (above) defied breezy conditions to land the Orsett Golf Club Pro-Am by two shots from George Howard and Mark Talbott.
Cretingham professional Pritchard was the only player to break par on the day, shooting an excellent two-under-par 70.
With a shotgun start in operation, he made a solid start after teeing off at the 14th, reeling off four straight pars.
A slip-up at the 18th was soon erased as Pritchard picked up strokes at both his eighth and 10th holes. With four holes to go he made bogey, but immediately bounced back with back-to-back birdies before a closing par secured success.
Thorpe Hall’s Talbott, at one stage, was three-under after a trio of birdies from his sixth hole – the 11th. But he was unable to hold onto that position of strength, eventually finishing on level par.
Howard (Brampton Park) had also been in the hunt for top spot, getting to one-under deep into the stretch. But he made bogey at his 16th hole and ended up with a 72 to tie for second alongside Talbott, who led home the winning team.
