Success for Spooner

Mark Spooner was crowned The PGA in Norfolk Matchplay champion after defeating Ian Ellis at Eaton Golf Club in Norwich.

Spooner (Bawburgh) defeated the county's Order of Merit Leader 4 and 3.

Spooner hit the front at the par-four third hole and was in control of the match from that point on.

He extended his lead before Ellis (Great Yarmouth and Caister) birdied the short 11th to reduce the deficit to just one hole.

A bogey from Ellis at the 13^th gave the momentum back to Spooner, who went on to close out the deal with back-to-back birdies.
