Talbott victorious at the Links

Mark Talbott (Thorpe Hall) maintained an impressive run of results with a one-shot success at the Links Pro-Am in Newmarket.

Talbott recorded his first win of the season on August 1 at Hartsbourne and then finished tied-second in the Order of Merit at Ingrebourne.

The Essex-based professional made it two victories in nine days, thanks to a four-under-par 68 in Newmarket.

But it wasn’t all plain sailing for Talbott, who started and finished with a bogey. In between, though, he played some superb golf in heavy rain, making six birdies.

Tied for second a shot back were Mark Baker (Colchester) and James Scade (Little Channels Golf Centre).

The team event was won by the quartet led by Glen Portelli (Old Fold Manor) on a total of 127. The team of Richard Childersley’s (Links, Newmarket) also finished at 16-under but Portelii’s triumphed on count-back.
