Talented girl juniors sought for Notts

Talented Nottinghamshire girls have the opportunity to take their game to a new level in an exciting new scheme.

The Nottinghamshire Golf Athlete Development Programme for Girls is searching for golfers who, with the right encouragement and coaching, might be able to make the step up to county standard.

The programme aims to identify and encourage talented and enthusiastic junior girl golfers from all backgrounds, who are just below the county criteria for inclusion in county squad coaching.

It will combine 12 hours of high quality coaching and training with events such as a training day and pro-am.

Each player follows an individualised training programme according to their own ability and development, with parents also provided with guidance on how best to balance the competing demands on the young player and maintain their interest.

Nottinghamshire Golf has two venues where the girls coaching will take place:

John Vaughan & James Thompson – Rufford Park Golf and Country Club. This starts Saturday November 15, 10.30am- 12pm - sessions run on the second Saturday of every month from December.

Daniel Parkes- The Nottinghamshire Golf and Country Club - starts Saturday November 22 2.30-4pm - sessions run on the second Saturday of every month from December.

The new pogramme will run alongside the main Athlete Development Programme which is open to both girls and boys.

The launch of the specific girls’ sessions will hopefully encourage more junior girls to progress in golf and reach county level in the future. This project is open all junior girls who are not already receiving county coaching.
