James Taverner (Hendon) birdied his final hole to take a share of first place in the Ely City Pro-Am alongside James Webber (Three Rivers).
The pair fired two-under-par rounds of 70 to finish a stroke ahead of a group of six players.
Taverner, who started at the 10th, surged to three-under after seven holes. But he slipped back on his inward nine, making bogey at both the second and fifth.
Webber was already in the clubhouse on two-under when Taverner played his closing hole – a testing par-four with a right-to-left dog-leg.
But the Middlesex professional saved his best to last and made a telling putt for a birdie three to force a tie at the top.
Luke Bowers (Lakeside Lodge), Phil Abbott (John O’Gaunt), Chase Davis (Marriott Sprowston Manor Hotel), Jason Levermore (Channels), Darren Charlton (Dunstable Downs) and Stuart Brown (Thorpe Wood) all fired one-under 71s.
Jason Boast (Cambridge Golf Driving Range) and his three amateurs were victorious by two strokes in the team event.
